Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) stock rose 8% Wednesday after the chipmaker showcased new laptop computers based on its advanced Panther Lake processors at the CES trade show in Las Vegas.

I played Battlefield 6, Marvel Rivals and more on laptops using an Intel Core Ultra Series 3 CPU, and its integrated Intel Arc B390 graphics just gave PC gaming a big upgrade.

Intel launched Panther Lake, its new AI chip for laptops, on Monday at the CES trade show in Las Vegas, as the company seeks to reassure investors about the first product made using its next-generation manufacturing process called 18A.

One of the main drivers of Intel stock's performance in 2025 was a series of deals Tan struck. First, Tan secured an $8.9 billion equity investment from the U.S. Government, unlocking existing grant money that hadn't yet been delivered. Intel also received a $2 billion equity investment from SoftBank, further strengthening its balance sheet.

Intel has been building chips designed for gaming PCs for years but the company is now moving into handheld devices too.

While Intel had an early lead with the MSI Claw 8 AI+’s Arc 140V iiGPU performance, the Asus ROG Xbox Ally X took the lead back for AMD with the new Ryzen Z2 Extreme which was a major win for the Ryzen Z2 series as a whole. However, the Intel G3 could change things back in Intel’s favor.
